We play a number of gigs during the year and recently have played at the Cliff Top Fair at Gorleston.

2023 Ukulele Group Report

The Ukulele group goes from strength to strength. We now have 26 members, which includes bass guitar, drums, mandolin and electric guitar , banjo plus a variety of kazoos bells tambourines whistles and 3 people who just turn up to sing. Most of us are now amplified.

We meet at Caister church hall every fortnight on a Wednesday morning from 10 till 12 to rehearse, with a coffee break in the middle. We have a WhatsApp group to keep in touch.

We will be playing 14 gigs this year as venues keep asking us back, and audience members often then request other gigs as well. We have now got the stage where we are turning places down. Gigs so far have been at Acle church, Caister community centre, Stalham street festival, Burlingham open gardens, Swallowtail housing complex in Acle. Gigs to come are at Stokesby House, Lodden fete, Gorleston band stand,Winterton Quilters, Bradwell show, Venetian Waterways, Yarmouth music club, Caister Church and Southtown Church.

We have a face book site, which features dozens of pictures and contact details. Lynda Oldfield runs a beginners group on Tuesdays, and several players have progressed from there to the full Wednesday band. Some go to both. Several players help out in other U3A groups.

We always welcome new players of ANY instruments. The Seasiders love to play, but no- one is criticised and the number one aim is to have fun, which we most surely do. Thanks to Gerry Roper for providing the refreshments, and Lynda for collecting the £2 s needed to pay the church hall.
